INT. BEDROOM – DAY
It’s early in the morning. A cell phone VIBRATES and RINGS simultaneously.
PETE, thirty-five, awakens in a frantic slumber. The WOMAN next to him, barely lifts her head. He finds his cell phone on the floor, checks the caller ID. It reads: Kelly.
PETE
Hey...
KELLY (V.O.)
Where you still sleep?
PETE
No, no ... what’s up? (checks the time) Everything alright?
KELLY (V.O.)
Drake proposed.
Pete freezes like he’s been hit with a stun gun.
PETE
But, it’s the morning.
KELLY (V.O.)
Huh? Yeah. Can you believe it? Woke up this morning to the shock of the year. I literally just got off the phone with him. He called like he normally--
PETE
You said, yes?
KELLY (V.O.)
Of course. Can’t believe it. I’m getting married, shit.
Pete gets off his bed. He just stands in the middle of the room, trying to process what he’s heard. They both say nothing for a few beats.
Kelly wants Pete to walk her down the aisle… Will he press on to get Kelly to change her mind or cave in and remain her faithful best friend?
